Recalled DePuy ASR Hip Replacement Associated with Cobalt Poisoning and Neurological and Cardiac Impairment

A study of two patients implanted with the recalled DePuy ASR hip replacement, conducted by Dr. Stephen Tower and published in the December edition of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, found that both patients suffered from metallosis and cobalt poisoning (cobaltism). Further, the patients presented with adverse neurological and cardiac impairment.
